Project: Drift Trike - Day #4

I finally got a new saw blade and got some more work done on my trike(though not much)
New Saw Blades
My new saw blades.
The one I used already lost most of it's good looks. ;) All I did today was finish sawing off the top of my bike.

I also got the chain off since it was no longer stuck in there. I also bought some Bondo to cover up the scratches, but I haven't used it yet.

It was difficult and uncomfortable to saw from the ground, so I made a really lame stand out of Kleenex boxes, my tool box, and a table with a bunch of stuff on it in my garage. It did make things a lot easier, though.

Now I need to get the pedals off, get a rear axle, get something to attach the rear axle to, get the wheels(I already know what I am getting, but they were out of stock when I went to the store today), get the 10" PVC(which will be expensive/tough to get), put it all together and paint. Probably a couple days worth of work...

Project: Drift Trike - Day #3

Today I got some more sawing done. I sawed through a lot of the top bar, then realized that if I continued sawing through at that angle, it would go through more than I wanted it to. So, in order to saw from another angle, I had to saw out the middle down-bar to give enough room for the saw.

Middle Down-bar
Middle down-bar is gone!

Shortly after that, while sawing through the top bar, my saw blade snapped! It snapped! I mean, how? But more importantly, why? Didn't it know I was in the middle of a really important project, and that it was my only blade?
Broken blade...
IT SNAPPED!!!!!
Progress...
Not much progress...
Anyways, I also wanted to try to get the pedal cranks off, but after a few minutes I realized I had no idea how to do that... So I Googled it and found out you need a special tool for most bikes. But mine looks a lot different. I also tried to loosen my handlebars/front wheel so I could get it off when I am ready to paint... and this happened.
Idk what this is called...
This broke too...
So, 2 of my tool attachments(I guess?) broke and I still haven't even finished sawing... :(

I'm not going to count Sundays and other days I don't work on it as days because I want the days to show how many work days it took me. If I'm lucky I'll have time to work on it again before next weekend, but I don't know.

Project: Drift Trike - Day #2

I didn't get as much done today as I hoped I would. There were some problems that kept me at school for a little longer than I had hoped* and I ended up hanging out with some of my younger sister's friends since it is her birthday today. Also, it was a lot harder to saw through the bike than I previously thought...
My Saw
This is my saw.
I finished sawing through the back down-bars, and am about halfway through my top-bar.
Back Down-Bars
Got through these!

Top Bar
About halfway through this...
You can see yellow pats where paint from the saw rubbed off on my bike... It lost so much paint from a couple places where the handle of the saw rubbed against and other things. I'll probably use some Bondo to cover some of the cuts and stuff up. I probably won't get much done tomorrow as I will be paint-balling most of the day =), but If I get the rest of my homework done tonight I'll hopefully at least get the sawing done.

*My older sister got her backpack stolen, which we later found with everything but her money and iPod Touch still in the bag. Her iPod was out of her bag and had gotten ran over by a car... :'(

Project: Drift Trike - Day #1

Today I took off the back wheel, got the chain most of the way off, took of the chain guard, and a couple other things.
Day 1 Progress
Day #1
This is how it looks now. Tomorrow I'll hopefully get the top and down bars chopped off, the chain the rest of the way off, and maybe get the pedals off. I was looking at some wheels online and saw that there were some good-looking ones at Lowe's for $29.93. I might get those, they have a 10-1/4" diameter. I might ask around for some 10" diameter PVC pipe, it's hard to find and where I've seen it, expensive. I also need to get something to attach the back axle to since I don't have a welder... That's pretty much it for today.

Project: Drift Trike

When I first saw a video of drift triking I thought, "Wow! I want to do that so bad!" I did my research and found many ways to make drift trikes. I got one of my old bikes and decided to make a drift trike out of it. This is the bike I decided to use.

So, I'm working on this. It's my first build and I still have schoolwork and stuff, so it's going to take a while... I also have to find some wheels and PVC pipe to cover them as well as some other things...
The tools.

Closer view of half of the tools.

These are most of the tools I'm using, but there are a few others.
